PEMANFAATAN MATERIAL BATU DAN PASIR DARI SUNGAI SEI WAMPU KABUTEN LANGKAT SEBAGAI BAHAN CAMPURAN ASPHALT CONCRETE – BINDER COURSE (AC-BC)
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of stone and sand materials obtained from the Sei Wampu River, Langkat Regency, as aggregates for Asphalt Concrete – Binder Course (AC-BC) mixtures. The research was conducted in accordance with the Indonesian National Standards (SNI) and the 2018 Revised General Specifications of Bina Marga Division 6. Laboratory testing included aggregate property tests (Los Angeles abrasion, specific gravity, sand equivalent, fine content passing No. 200 sieve, and angularity), asphalt penetration grade 60/70 characterization, and Marshall testing with asphalt content variations of 5%, 6%, and 7%.
The results indicate that the Sei Wampu aggregates meet the technical requirements, with Los Angeles abrasion values below 40%, specific gravity greater than 2.5, and sand equivalent values above 50%. Marshall stability values for all asphalt content variations exceed the minimum requirement of 800 kg. The Optimum Asphalt Content (OAC) was determined to be approximately 6%. Overall, the local materials from the Sei Wampu River are technically suitable for use in AC-BC mixtures, provided that proper quality control measures, including aggregate washing and gradation adjustment, are implemented. The utilization of local materials offers an economical and sustainable alternative for road construction projects.
