PERANAN GURU PENDIDIKAN KEWARGANEGARAAN DALAM MEMBANGUN SIKAP DEMOKRATIS SISWA KELAS X SMA SWASTA GAJAH MADA PADANG BULAN MEDAN TAHUN 2025

Abstract

This study is entitled “The Role of Civic Education Teachers in Building Democratic Attitudes among Grade X Students at Gajah Mada Padang Bulan Private High School in Medan in 2025.” The background of the problem is how to build democratic attitudes among tenth grade students at Gajah Mada Padang Bulan Private High School in Medan in 2025 through the role of civics teachers. Therefore, the study of teacher competence as a key element in the implementation of formal education also needs to consider how teacher competence can build democratic attitudes among tenth grade students at Gajah Mada Padang Bulan Private High School in Medan in 2025. In relation to the implementation of learning, teachers need to pay attention to the fact that students have various potentials within themselves. The objectives of this study are: To determine the democratic behavior of students in school life in the 10th grade of Gajah Mada Padang Bulan Private High School in Medan in 2025, To determine the democratic attitudes of students in Pancasila and Civics Education in class X at Gajah Mada Padang Bulan Private High School in Medan in 2025, and To determine the factors that influence the role of Civics Education teachers in building democratic attitudes among students in class X at Gajah Mada Padang Bulan Private High School in Medan in 2025. The research method used in this study was a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that in fostering democratic values, Civic Education teachers had tried their best. The efforts made include providing understanding and lessons on democratic values so that students are able to express their opinions and become more confident in their achievements. The obstacles faced by Civic Education teachers are that guidance for students sometimes does not go well, and there are still many students who lack confidence in expressing their opinions or expressing themselves well. In conclusion, Civic Education teachers always provide lessons and foster democratic values and an understanding of freedom of expression. Civic Education teachers always provide guidance to students who still lack confidence.
